Brief description of the book in English
This is a ~26 k word-novel. Dina is a university professor endeavoring to forward her academic career. She goes through a crisis in her family life. Her rich husband doesn't share her aspirations, she falls in love with another man and her teenage daughter adopts an extremist lifestyle that doesn't match that of her family. Dina sees her life through the history of her country and her academic research. Her two friends, Nagwa and Randa, university professors like herself, join her in that journey but with different views and realities.
The novel also presents historical scenes from important events relevant to the history of Egyptian women.

Le roman de "Les femmes du Mahroussa", d'environ 26,000 mots, raconte l'histoire de trois professeures d'université.
La narratrice, Dina, travaille fort pour faire avancer sa carrière académique. Son mari, un homme d'affaires de grandes richesse et renommée, ne partage pas les aspirations de sa femme. Dina se trouve au milieu d'une crise personnelle quand elle tombe amoureuse d’un collègue et lutte contre ses scrupules. Chez elle, pas seulement l'infidélité de son mari lui brise le cœur, mais aussi le mode de vie de sa fille adolescente qui adopte des vues oppressantes contre les femmes.
Les deux autres femmes, Randa et Nagwa, font face à d’autres problèmes. Tandis que Randa voit les choses comme elles sont, Nagwa essaie de se trouver des solutions qui sont plutôt conformes aux normes.
