About this ebook

Would you pay in blood to have access to the witch’s knowledge?

Rumors about Yuuri Watoh being a witch who feeds upon the misfortune of others have kept customers away from her Eastern Medicine Shop as long as she can remember—until he showed up.

Intrigued by the rumors, Count Ernest Travis Selden, close attendant to the Hylant king and a notorious eccentric, seeks the Hinomoto witch’s specialized knowledge to solve a royal incident. But borrowing the witch’s aid comes at a steep price—one that can’t be paid in gold or jewels.

How will the stubborn shut-in vampire witch who hails from the East handle the peculiar Western Count who frequently brings her problems to solve and seems all too happy to pay the price?

Honestly, I started reading this book because I thought it would be more mystery-centric. It wasn't, but I still really enjoyed the entire story. Not to say that there isn't any mystery, but they're very small events that happen in the large scheme of things. The story wholly focuses on the romance between the main characters and I think that the relationship between them was developed really well. Not just between the main characters, but there are a lot of interesting relationships with other characters, especially the ones with Yuuri and her family. Ernest is a pretty stable character, the one that develops the most is Yuuri as she figures out her feelings about Ernest and her relationship with other characters. The novel is not especially dramatic in any way, it's a pretty relaxing story with a slice of mystery here and there. As this is a stand-alone novel, I think the final chapter of the novel makes it end only a bit weirdly, but the side-story right after it makes up for it and makes it end quite cutely. Overall, this novel was great and romance was developed wonderfully. This is definitely for people who enjoy reading romance and don't want much drama in it.

Great story. The characters are lovable and the story keeps you on your toes. Yuuri and Ernest are very well described characters, I liked how the point of view would change depending on the case they were solving. It gave me similar vibes to Gosick in a way, especially the chemistry between them. I enjoyed it very much. A charming and sweet story I definitely recommend.
