About this ebook

What is the worth of a man's Soul? What is good? What is evil? Redemption? Damnation? That is what two old friends meet to discuss over a pint or two in an Irish Pub. It is soon discovered that this is no mere idle debate as two supernatural forces clash over the fate of one Mickey O' Shea.

What starts in a pub between friends who’ve known each other for aeons can end many ways. That description of the pub hooked me. I want to know more about this adversarial friendship between Finn and Shaun, and from the start I know they’d be dangerous fun to listen to, over several pints. Oh, the fate of the good, the bad, and poor Mickey O’Shea. This is a well-paced and quick read, with a touch of the supernatural and a twinkle in its eye. I've already re-read it twice and recommended it to friends. The banter between Finn and Shaun somehow reminded me of the odd friendship between Aziraphale and Crowley in Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman), so if you're a fan of that, this fits on that same shelf, to my way of thinking. I only knock it down to 4 stars for two reasons. First, I wish there were more of it and second, the author keeps dropping teasing hints about past adventures and battles between Finn and Shaun. I strongly feel just a few more details of their history would flesh out both characters and lend weight to their actions. Overall a worthwhile read.

About the author

If I had grown up in another era, I would have been one of the kids with the sling shot in his back pocket, slouch cap, and trailing dog running along a dirt track trying to find glass cola bottles to exchange for nickels so I could go catch the matinee. I have been in love with all things pulp and Saturday Matinee goodness since seeing Errol Flynn welcoming Olivia De Havilland to Sherwood Forest. I live in North Carolina with my faithful hound, and yeah I got the slouch cap too. I also can be found at http://rrhunsinger.blogspot.com/
