About this ebook

For ten years, I've perfected the art of ignoring Ford Donoghue whenever he comes home on leave. You can't completely avoid anyone on Hatterwick Island, but I've made it work. Until his daughter shows up.

She's thirteen, scared, and looking for the father she's never met. And suddenly I'm the one making the call I swore I'd never make, pulling Ford away from his Navy post and into my carefully constructed life. But something about her story doesn't add up, and when a body washes up on our quiet beach, the whole island starts to unravel.

Now a teenage girl is counting on me, a murderer walks freely among us, and the only person I can trust is the former best friend who broke my heart a decade ago. And the people threatening everything I love? They're counting on the fact that Ford and I are too broken to work together.

They don't know how wrong they are.

In this small tourist town, old wounds run deep and deadly secrets hide in plain sight. And this time, running away isn't an option—for any of us.

4.5 stars: Book 2 in the Wayward Sons series, this book focuses on Bree (long time islander) and Ford (her estranged childhood friend and Wayward Son). There is therefore plenty of intrigue and gripping tension, as well as romance as the story develops and Bree and Ford find support, attraction and friendship with each other that starts to sizzle as it grows. This book has an amazing story, wonderful characters (Bree’s grandfather is the best) and keeps you eagerly turning the pages!

All Along The Watchtower is Ford Donoghue and Bree Cartwright’s story and it’s book two in the Wayward Sons Series based in Hatterwick, Outer Banks, North Carolina. It’s a single dad romantic suspense and I was drawn in from the first few pages. There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming and I was kept on the edge of my seat as I joined Bree and Ford on their journey. This story is well written and entertaining, I swooned, I smiled and I held my breath as I watched this story unfold.

Fantastic read! I absolutely love Harper Jackson, the way she incorporates mystery, suspense and romance into her novels keeps you hanging on your seat. I love the way Bree and Fords story played out, from the history we learnt, to the current time. The way Ford adapted to parenthood really warmed my heart, not all men step up to this role but this man made me proud. And the suspense that played out through the novel … well let’s just say you have to read it.

About the author

Harper Jackson has rescued her co-workers from a hostage situation, battled ninjas, and stopped international espionage—in her head anyway. Now that she’s no longer busy devising ways to make staff meetings more entertaining, she’s pouring that imagination into tales of breath-stealing, small-town romantic suspense. She believes that peach cobbler with ice cream is the best dessert ever and has a black belt in taekwondo to back it up. She lives in the Deep South with her husband and three canine furbabies. Kait Nolan is a USA Today best selling, RITA® Award-winning Mississippi author who calls everyone sugar, honey, or darlin', and can wield a 'Bless your heart' like a Snuggie or a saber, depending on requirements. She believes in love, laughter, and that tacos are the world's most perfect food. When she's not writing, reading, or wrangling family (both the two-legged and the four-), you can find her obsessively watching The Great British Bake Off. You can check out her darker alter ego Harper Jackson for romantic suspense.
