About this ebook

The first novel in #1 New York Times bestselling author Jan Karon’s beloved series set in America’s favorite small town: Mitford.

It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's sixty years old. Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich comedy about ordinary people and their ordinary lives.

The Mitford series is amazing. My whole family enjoys it immensely. I loved hearing it read in the author's voice. it lends more credibility to the attitudes and expression. I gave 3 stars because this audio recording seems to be an abridged version or something. It's missing a lot from the book. There's material information missing but more importantly it's missing so much of the character and charm. I would highly recommend reading the original book because of this.

I actually was totally opposed to reading books in a series. That was until I read "The Mitford Series" by author Jan Karon. Of course I read it in paperback close to 10 years ago possibly more; however this is a series that would never grow old. Once you read the first one, you will be hooked on these awesome characters and the magnificent setting surrounding them. I definitely highly recommend Anything Author Jan Karon pens.

Jan Karon's MITFORD series is one of my favorite. Over the last 12 years I have reread each book, multiple times and it is like seeing old and special people in life.
