Basil Sands doesn’t just write stories; he’s lived a lot of what they contain. The backdrop for his writing started with his birth in rural interior Alaska and his school years among the Ohio cornfields, where he wished to be anywhere else as long as it was exciting. He has lived in Alaska, San Diego, DC, Baltimore, and Ohio. He tried a career in the Marines. After injuries sent him home early he worked at the NSA, owned a computer shop, was a carpenter, farmer, actor, lumberjack, voice actor, EMT, network admin, helpdesk supervisor, Boy Scout leader, IT trainer, radio talk host, and youth minister, and was a sergeant in the Alaska Defense Force Coastal Scouts.Until a ski injury in 2008, Sands was an avid weight lifter and could bench press 420 lbs. Now he's limited to a bit on the elliptical machine each day, as well as hefting his laptop and an occasional pint of Guinness.
By lunchtime, he inadvertently triggered a world war.
Then things got really bad.
Karl, a former USMC Harrier pilot, NASA astronaut, and Space Tourism pilot had always been an adrenaline junkie, but he quickly finds himself in over his head. He's swept up in an insane secret operation—the work of American CIA and British MI-6 agents—being helped by a family of resistance fighters and led by an Iranian-born deep-cover agent that he doesn't begin to trust. Soon he's trapped in an all-out chase to stop a squad of kamikazes armed with notes who are rushing to drop their deadly payload onto U.S. troops and Israeli citizens.
Throughout the harrowing adventure, Karl is haunted by the memory of his first combat mission as a Marine Harrier pilot. Somehow, he knows what he learned twenty years ago just might save the world today.

"The action is fast, the characters are amazing, and there is plenty to keep the reader engaged. This is every bit as good as Jeff Edwards, Tom Clancy, or Dale Brown; fans of those authors will gobble this up and wait for the sequel. Highly recommended!"
