রামতনু লাহিড়ী ও তৎকালীন বঙ্গসমাজ শিবনাথ শাস্ত্রী রচিত একটি গ্রন্থ। গ্রন্থটি ১৯ শতকের বাঙ্গালীর সমাজ-সংস্কৃতি-রাষ্ট্রনীতির এক উৎকৃষ্ট নির্ভরযোগ্য দলিল রূপে পরিচিত। রামতনু লাহিড়ীর সঙ্গে শিবনাথ শাস্ত্রীর পরিচয় ২২শে আগস্ট ১৮৬৯ সালে ও তার পর থেকে তা দীর্ঘ ২৯ বছরের গাঢ় পরিচয় ঘনীভূত হয়েছিল। প্রথমে শাস্ত্রী মশাই শুধু মাত্র রামতনু লাহিড়ীর জীবনী লিখবেন ভেবেছিলেন। কিন্তু পরে তিনি দেখেছিলেন ১৮১৩ সাল থেকে ১৮৯৮ সাল পর্যন্ত রামতনু লাহিড়ীর জীবন ১৯ শতকের বাঙ্গালীর সমাজ-সংস্কৃতি-রাষ্ট্রনীতির ইতিহাসের সঙ্গে নিবিড়ভাবে সম্পৃক্ত। তাই পরে ‘তৎকালীন বঙ্গসমাজ’ যুক্ত করেন। স্বভাবতই রামতনু লাহিড়ীর জীবনীসূত্রে ১৯ শতকের যেসব মনীষী নবজাগরণের সাথে প্রত্যক্ষ বা অপ্রত্যক্ষভাবে জড়িত ছিলেন তারাও এই গ্রন্থে স্থান পেয়েছেন। জীবনীগ্রন্থ হিসাবে রচিত হলেও বইটির মূল্য যে এর ঐতিহাসিকতায় এ সম্পর্কে তিনি সচেতন ছিলেন।
