About this ebook

This book is an invitation to journey through the multilayered history of Thrace. My aim is not merely to recount major historical events, but to shed light on the everyday lives, beliefs, traditions, and intercommunal dynamics of the peoples who once inhabited this region. In presenting the history of Thrace, I have sought to foreground intercultural interactions and to engage the reader with a narrative that is both scholarly and thought-provoking.

Rather than offering a strictly chronological account, this work explores critical turning points, transformations of identity, and traces of cultural heritage from the Thracian era through the Ottoman period. In an age when historical narratives are often distorted by political agendas, I believe it is essential to approach the history of Thrace from a more objective and multidimensional perspective. Recent advances in fields such as genetic genealogy, archaeogenetics, and artificial intelligence have made it necessary to revisit and reinterpret conventional historical narratives. This book has been written with these new perspectives in mind.
