This is an important book. Librarians are hesitant to let researchers even touch it without surrendering your identification and wearing white cotton gloves. I for one am very grateful to Google for Digitizing this work and making it available to the world. Jarves did a nice job capturing the History of Hawai'i he came to the islands in search of adventure and compiled a great deal of information on the History of the People thier religious customs. He also provides some insight into the reasons Captain Cook was murdered, dismembered and eaten. Anyone who has a desire to learn more about Hawaii and its History should start their quest here.
