About this ebook

What if you woke up one day to find the language you spoke was replaced with another? Imagine seeing your native language, so familiar, yet you can’t understand a single word or letter. That was the experience of an alien race, the Yukkob, whose language was obliterated by another foreign species known as the Akshaki.

The leadership of the Yukkob, the Council, spent many years searching for the culprits until their pursuit led them to an unassuming salt mine in Region 2. A young reporter, Gaiakeya, is sent to investigate the mine, suspicious of the Council’s motivation for initiating the excavation.

The miners unwittingly uncover a monster with an obsidian-black shell and a drive to kill. Now, she must hide from a creature with the power to control fire so hot it can melt steel with a single touch. Will Gaiakeya and the miners escape the underground deathtrap, or will they burn in the inferno?

This short 7,000-word story is part 1 of 9 of an 85,000-word book to be released over the course of 2023 and 2024.

About the author

Morgan Campbell is a Licensed Practical Nurse with a bachelor's degree in biology who has been practicing writing since he was ten years old. He has worked as a dog trainer, a long-term care and psychiatric nurse, an animal care technician, and a prep and line cook.

While working as a Life Coach for Therapy International, Morgan Campbell is working with his mom, Valerie Campbell, to launch their writing business, Wolf Prints Inc. His co-writer, Athena the Husky, aids in editing with daily hugs and a nip to the nose.

Do not trust this beast. He is a ginger and only seeks to destroy all that you love. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. Valerie Campbell is a licensed mental health counselor and founder of Therapy International, Inc.

She has worked for state-funded mental health centers and been in private practice for over 20 years. She has also worked as a certified teacher in ESE, Psychology 6-12, as a Behavior Specialist and Dean. She was a psychology professor for over 13 years.

Dr. Campbell has worked with children in the juvenile justice system, as a Guardian Ad Litem, with the battered women's shelter, and with the victim-witness program.

She also volunteered in many crisis situations; with the Red Cross counseling survivors and families of 9/11, and the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando - the second worse shooting in U.S. history.

After Dr. Campbell became certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, she began research on therapy dogs, psychiatric service dogs, and assistance dogs. She is now an evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen award and Delta Society therapy dog certification.

She now uses her experience to write stories in Maine with a little counseling on the side. She owes it all to her three wonderful children, who taught her tech, and are her greatest motivation, inspiration, and support.
