In a world where I was already learning that nothing was quite what it appeared to be, this book took that lesson and forced me to watch it in action over and over again. And, Kirby’s undercover mission was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of being “not what it appeared”. I loved watching these characters grow so much during this book. None of them were saved from facing their inner demons, and I think that’s made them all the more complex and compelling.
