Claire Mitchell is a woman of many talents. By day, she is a Doctor of Art Conservation, and by night she is a master jewel thief, liberating Nazi-stolen jewels and returning them to their rightful owners. When she literally bumps into Fletch, it is the first night of the rest of her life. He is drawn to her, and claims her. She falls in love with him, but is unwilling to give up her life to join him. They are at an impasse. The next book will finish their story. This first half of the Relentless Pursuit Duet is fantastic, just as I have come to expect from Delta James. Claire is saucy and strong. She is Fletch's light. When they are torn apart, I half expected him to roar at the moon. This book ends on a cliffhanger, but luckily the author loves us all enough to not make us wait too long for the conclusion. I received an advance review copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I was so engrossed in this story that the ending smacked me in the face. That's what I get for not paying attention to the page count. The mystery and suspense blended perfectly with the passion between Claire and Fletcher. This is something I've come to love and expect when it comes to Ms. James. Her stories are intense and multilayered, and her characters are complex. As I said, this one does end in a cliffhanger, but the next book is due to be released soon so don't let that be a deal breaker. It's a must read.
