I am of the opinion that you will either love or loathe this book. This is a well written book with a promising story and great characters;however, in my opinion, this was a poorly edited book. There are parts of this story that were just so unnecessary and quite frankly cumbersome. While I understand what this author was trying to accomplish, it just felt very flat and trite. The ending is absolutely horrible...it made me feel like I wasted my time, energy, and money.

Engaging, but I found myself arguing with the author a lot. Unexplained, seemingly magical coincidences abound. The omnipotent film director who is the focal point of the story is finally caught at the end, but we don't get to hear him speak. This is not a great book, but it is interesting.

I read this while across seas and it kept me entertained. It's a great book. It hooks you immediately, sends you on a mystery thrill ride and leaves you wanting more. It had a couple of lulls but the want to know the answer is more than enough to push you through. Give it a shot.

Pessl grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, and currently resides in New York City.
