About this ebook

ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE’S 100 BEST YA BOOKS OF ALL TIME  •  NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A modern-day classic from Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli, this beloved celebration of individuality  is now an original movie on Disney+!

And don't miss the author's highly anticipated new novel, Dead Wednesday!
Stargirl. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of “Stargirl, Stargirl.” She captures Leo Borlock’ s heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted. At first.

Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different, and Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

Don’t miss the sequel, Love, Stargirl, as well as The Warden’s Daughter, a novel about another girl who can't help but stand out.

“Spinelli is a poet of the prepubescent. . . . No writer guides his young characters, and his readers, past these pitfalls and challenges and toward their futures with more compassion.” —The New York Times

1 word, inappropriate! I read this book at the age of 12 and all the cussing was too much! The main character and Star Girl talked very inappropriately. The book overall was boring. Nothing happened except Star Girl getting bullied. This book just shows how cruel and rude children can be to one another. This is definetly ages 18+

I loved this book, I finished it in 2 days after I got it. It was super interesting and a lot of action and romance. I would totally recommend this book to children who like random events and a girl who loves helping people. This book has a lot of suspense and it gets really interesting you don't want to stop, and This book can make you feel lots of different emotions. It also can inspire you to help other people and do somethings for others. It will be a great novel for people of all ages. This book is a one of a kind book that Jerry Spinelli has made and I can't wait to read Love Stargirl.

When a new girl comes to Mica High School, at first everyone takes a step back. For as long as they can remember, their quite town in Arizona has been as normal as normal can be...more or less. But once they get used to her odd aquirements, such as her carrying a pet rat in her bookbag, playing a ukeluele during lunch, and dressing in odd outfits, they take a liking to her. She joins the cheerleading squad, and gives the school a never-before-had school spirit. Leo Borlock falls for her- he starts to love her odd attire and quirky views, but just as he is starting to take a liking to her, the rest of his schoolmates do the opposite. In Stargirls occupation as a cheerleader, she begins to cheer for the other team as well. One day, when a boy on the opposing team gets injured in a basketball game, Stargirl tends to his injuries, and cheers his team' s name over and over again, bringing her morale down as a hero to zero. All of her good deeds and quirks backfire on her, and she becomes an outcast. But since Leo loves her, no one likes him, either. Which can he choose? To be an outcast, and keep his true love, or give up Stargirl in return for the popularity and part in this group of students that he thinks he deserves?
