About this ebook

Don't trust lust at first sight. One woman chooses reality over fantasy in this friends-to-lovers romance, a steamy standalone by “an author to keep your eye on” (Katee Robert).

Jacqueline: As an adult woman—and the vice president of a marketing firm—I shouldn’t be waiting by my office window to ogle the mystery man who jogs by every morning at 11:45. Sure, he’s a gorgeous, perfect specimen of the human race, but I can’t bring myself to hit on a total stranger. However, my best friend–slash–colleague Vince Carson thinks I should do more than talk to the guy. In fact, he’s borderline obsessive about “getting me laid.” (His words.) But the more time we spend together, the more it’s clear: The one I’m falling for is Vince.

Vince: Jackie Butler’s got it bad for some pompous, over-pumped A-hole who struts his stuff past her window. That doesn’t bother me. I know she deserves nice things. What does bother me is that she friend-zoned me big-time last year, so I can’t ask her out myself. But what if I set her up with Mr. Steroids? Then, when he breaks her heart, I can swoop in and save her like the nice guy I am. Everything’s going according to plan . . . until we share a ridiculously epic kiss. And suddenly anything is possible.

A friends to lovers story that is all snark and romance. Just my kind of book! Jackie and Vince were terrific together. Too bad it took them so long to figure that out!! After watching her ogle runner guy for months now, Vince decides that Jackie needs to stop watching and take action even if it kills him. Sounded like a good plan until "the kiss" then everything changed! This one's funny, lighthearted, and completely entertaining. I highly recommend it to everyone.

While I enjoyed this book, I didn't love it. I was expecting an entertaining romantic comedy, which I partly got, but I didn't fall in love with the characters. Jackie and Vince are co-vice-presidents for a marketing firm and also are close friends. Truly, they seem to do everything together a couple does, except for the sex. Things take an odd turn when Vince offers to help Jackie get the attention of her crush, a sexy guy that jogs past her office at the same time every day and mostly shirtless. Under the guise of "helping" her, he wants her to get over her rebound relationship so she'll be ready to give him a chance. The jogging guy is pretty, but doesn't seem to have more to offer. However, I was frustrated by Vince's games and "coaching" role with a woman he is so attracted to. Most rom/coms have some type of push/pull, but this one was over the top and it frustrated me to see the immature way they reacted to problems. Yes, love can make us all a bit stupid, but this was too much, especially between two people that have been such close friends for years. I enjoy the author's work and loved the concept of this book, but while it could have been great, it was just okay. I look forward to reading more of her books.

EYE CANDY is about best friends and coworkers, Vince and Jackie, crossing the line and becoming lovers. This first book in Jessica Lemmon's new series, Real Love, takes us through the highs and lows of falling in love. Again. Because both Vince Carsen and Jackie Butler have been married before and have issues from it. Residual pain, insecurities, and trust issues. Add to it the fear of losing a good friend and of having to deal with the awkwardness in the office if it doesn't work out. Vince has wanted out of the friend zone with Jackie for awhile, but she wasn't ready to date so soon after her painful divorce. When he sees her taking an interest in the Eye Candy that jogs shirtless by her office every morning he realizes he better step up his game and make his move before he misses his chance. Ms. Lemmon deftly shows the joy, the passion, and the anxiousness her characters experience. I love her writing style, because it's just so real. Not only are her stories engaging, she really allows her readers to get to know her characters. What I loved best about Vince and Jackie was their easy friendship. They truly knew each other, which made the banter and quips so funny. I liked how in his typical dude style, Vince calls Jackie, "Butler"... Even when they were having hot, mind-blowing sex. Despite their solid friendship, falling in love is not easy on them. Ms. Lemmon puts them through some paces until they're ready to admit their mutual love and truly commit. 3.5 stars ~Complimentary copy downloaded from NetGalley.
