The Light of the Day is the tale of a forgotten hero. In 1960, Roger Butler sent out a letter to several prominent British newspapers starting with, ‘Sir, we are homosexuals’. Written seven years before the decriminalisation of homosexuality, this letter was a major milestone in the fight for gay rights.
Decades later, he meets Christopher. A friendship blooms, and Roger begins to trust the younger man with the tales of his past. After Roger’s death, Christopher finds a box of Roger’s letters along with a note to Christopher, asking him to share his story with the world.
