"You will be blown away."-AIN'T IT COOL NEWS Brian Azzarello brings to THE JOKER all the visceral intensity and criminal insight that has made his Vertigo graphic novel series 100 BULLETS one of the most critically acclaimed and award-winning series of all time. This original graphic novel tells the story of one very dark night in Gotham City. The Joker has been mysteriously released from Arkham Asylum, and he's none too happy about what's happened to his Gotham City rackets while he's been "away." What follows is a harrowing night of revenge, murder and manic crime as only The Joker can deliver it, as he brutally takes back his stolen assets from The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc and, of course, The Batman, and heaven help them all. Told through the eyes of his loyal (but naive) henchman Jonny Frost, JOKER is a true noir crime novel: a harrowing journey into a city of rain-soaked streets, dirty sheets and nothing but bad choices.
John Constantine, Hellblazer
It’s been a long, hard road that John Constantine has followed across the badlands of America. After walking out of a burning maximum-security prison, into the hollows of Appalachia and through the snows of the Great Plains, England’s greatest magician is approaching the final leg of his intracontinental trek-and closing in on the real reason for the suicide of Richard “Lucky” Fermin, the trigger that set everything in motion to frame Constantine for murder. To reach the end of this long and dangerous trail, however, he will have to pass through the bellies of two very different beasts: first, a nest of white supremacists in rural Montana, where Fermin’s widow has settled; and then, finally, Los Angeles-capital of an entire empire of decadence and home to the singularly American corruption that has hounded Constantine halfway around the globe. Legendary comics author Brian Azzarello concludes his acclaimed cross-country saga with JOHN CONSTANTINE, HELLBLAZER VOL. 15: HIGHWATER, collecting issues 162-174 of the signature Vertigo series and featuring stunning art from Marcelo Frusin, Guy Davis, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Cameron Stewart.
Before Watchmen: Comedian/Rorschach
The controversial, long-awaited prequels to the best-selling graphic novel of all-time are finally here: BEFORE WATCHMEN! For over twenty years, the back stories of the now iconic characters from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's landmark graphic novel have remained a mystery, until now. DC Comics has assembled the greatest creators in the industry to further paint the world of WATCHMEN, with this second volume starring two of the most polarizing anti-heroes ever, COMEDIAN and RORSCHACH. Eisner Award-winning writer and creator of 100 Bullets Brian Azzarello brings his gritty, nuanced storytelling to these two recognizable characters. In RORSCHACH, Azzarello again teams with superstar artist Lee Bermejo (JOKER, LUTHOR, BATMAN/DEATHBLOW) to illustrate how one of most dangerous vigilantes the comic world has ever seen became even darker. COMEDIAN, featuring art by J.G. Jones (FINAL CRISIS, Wanted), plants the famed war hero within the context of American history, as we find out how the Vietnam War and the Kennedy assassination revolve around him. Collects BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN 1-6 and BEFORE WATCHMEN: RORSCHACH 1-4.
The New 52: Futures End Vol. 2
Five years from now, the future that Batman Beyond came back in time to stop is already in motion. Brother Eye has taken over Cadmus, and has taken the refugee heroes of Earth-2 as its mind-controlled slaves. Superman has walked away from humanity, and another hero wears the mantle in his place. And in deep space, Stormwatch are dead, victims of the true threat from beyond our universe...the being we know as Brainiac. But while heroes still live, there's still hope. On Arrow Island, Green Arrow has faked his own death and used the cover to begin recruiting an Army to take the fight to Brother Eye. And even those who swore they'd never be heroes again-like Red Robin and Firestorm-find themselves drawn back into the battle. The fight for the future of the DC Universe is on!
John Constantine, Hellblazer: Good Intentions
John Constantine knows the secrets of his native England like the back of his nicotine-stained hand. Unfortunately for him, he’s now a world away from that green and pleasant land. Constantine has returned to America, and this time he’s landed in the worst place imaginable: a cell in a maximum-security prison, with a 35-year sentence for murder. Adapting to his new environs will require a steep learning curve, but the world’s greatest magician is nothing if not flexible. In fact, the question that his fellow inmates should be asking is not how this strange-talking newcomer will endure being locked up with society’s worst offenders, but rather how they are going to survive the experience. That’s because Constantine has a few more stops to make on his stateside tour, and, unlike his cellmates, his journey begins in the joint rather than ending there. But when he arrives in the rural town of Doglick, West Virginia, to make personal amends for his crime, what he finds going on behind its closed doors shocks the famously world-weary sorcerer to his hardened, cynical core. Acclaimed writer Brian Azzarello is joined by legendary artists Richard Corben, Marcelo Frusin and Steve Dillon for a terrifying expedition into the darkest corners of the Land of the Free in JOHN CONSTANTINE, HELLBLAZER VOL. 14: GOOD INTENTIONS, collecting issues 146-161 of the signature VERTIGO series together with the nostalgic tale “The First Time” from VERTIGO SECRET FILES: HELLBLAZER.
The New 52: Futures End Vol. 3
This is the moment that Batman Beyond has traveled back in time to stop-the moment when his terrible future is born. Five years from now, the world of tomorrow is on the brink of creation. Brainiac has arrived from the stars, and intends to take New York City with him as a souvenir. It's enough to bring Superman out of self-imposed exile, but not even the Man of Steel or his former teammates on the Justice League may be enough to stop the alien conqueror. Can Batman Beyond, Stormwatch, the Justice League Dark, Firestorm and others stop both Brainiac and Brother Eye? Or will the future die along with them? It all leads up to this. Jeff Lemire (JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA), Brian Azzarello (WONDER WOMAN), Dan Jurgens (THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN), Keith Giffen (JUSTICE LEAGUE 3001) and artists such as Patrick Zircher (THE FLASH) redefine the future of the DC Universe! Collects #31-48.
