Телевизионный обозреватель погоды Фил Коннорс (Билл Мюррей), приехавший в городок Панксатони в Пенсильвании на ежегодный праздник День сурка, застревает во времени и все время просыпается 2 февраля. Он каждый день встречает одних и тех же людей, но они не знают, что День сурка повторяется.
