The entire enterprise seems rather thin, predictable, and repetitive, because this film cannot escape the timeless shadow of the classic horror thriller "JAWS." There's nothing effectively entertaining about the movie as a whole neither. I also did not care for the characters; There is little information to these characters, They have nothing to do with animals (including snakes), and there are even some elements where they are sometimes showing off for a particular reason. There is one character Paul Serone has some inconsistent characterization (weather he is a villain or not), and the aspects to this character are questionable. The pacing of the story is off (fast paced with no detail in the beginning and then as the film progresses, the pacing is pretty slow and drags on far too long, and finally: the third act moves at a moderate pace. The effects went from mediocre to awful. The face of the anaconda does not look like an anaconda because the skin is too dark and has cat eyes with slit pupils, the CGI effect of the snake is very unrealistic in terms of natural behavior of constrictors, and the animatronic anaconda just move like any typical robotic animatronic, However, there is some eye-catching detail because of the glossy scales. The ominous music score is exactly what you expect from a dangerous adventure in the Amazon rainforest, but the main theme of the score has simplistic notes that don't have the power to get stuck in my head, and that theme song appears very often, which makes it repetitive, it does not have the ability to have the emotional upbeat side either. Apparently, the anaconda showed it's face too soon in the first act which doesn't work, because the only way to make the snake very terrifying, is to not show the full appearance throughout the first half of the movie and deliver masterfully effective direction to the second act when the sinister serpent appears (but, that can also come out as unoriginal because JAWS already got this kind of plotting). The sound effects for the snake are provided by a veteran voice actor named Frank Welker. Anacondas don't make screeching sounds, they hiss like all snakes do. Here is something to top it all: Just like the Great white shark, green anacondas are not necessarily man-eaters, because our shoulders would block the opened jaws and would not fit in the throat or the mouth and it's hard to swallow. Our bodys are too big, too wide, and too long to be on the snakes menu. In conclusion: Cursory, unrealistic, and stereotypical as a whole; Anaconda is a preposterous failure of massive proportions. Don't watch it! skip it!

I used to like this, but, now, I can't say I'd watch it ever again. The acting wasn't awful, the plot was fairly good for this type of movie. The effects... well... the snake looks kinda fake in some scenes (from what I can remember, it's been awhile since I saw this), and, it DEFINITELY sounds fake. I'm pretty sure snakes don't scream.
