Lady Maria Barker, starved of her husband's attention, has a whirlwind affair with a dashing British stranger in Paris. Though she tries to put the infidelity behind her, it comes back to haunt her when the Englishman turns out to be her husband's old military chum. Torn between her husband and her lover, she is forced to make a life-altering decision.
