Academy Award® winner Jodie Foster and international star Chow Yun-Fat bring to life the epic true story of a woman who challenged the heart of a king and inspired the destiny of a nation. English school teacher Anna Leonowens has traveled to Siam to educate the fifty-eight children of King Mongkut. If she has preconceived notions about the East, the King has similar notions about the West. Amid the danger of growing political unrest, their respect for each other slowly turns into something more.

Ratings and reviews

Would have been nice to have had a translation in Closed Captions for the foreign Goble-De-Gook and to have been able to have understood the movie more in depth during certain sequences but in today's world of lazy, upwardly failing rewards, I guess this is just another fine example of how to do half of the work and get all of the praise...Honestly, Closed Caption Translations give more to a movie or haven't you heard of that technology?...Sounds like a good job for Artificial Intelligence...

don't purchase This is a four star movie but there's no caption for the foreign language not even in closed captioning no translation at all which undermines the story plot.
