Jack Kerouac struggles with being thrust into the limelight after he becomes a public sensation after the success of his book, On the Road. Stuck with his own thoughts, he's forced to face his demons, including alcoholism and self-destructive thoughts. The abrupt rise to fame breaks him down emotionally, and he flees New York for the tranquil solitude of a cabin in Big Sur, California.
