I'VE WATCHED IT 3 TIMES NOW. LOVED THE 1ST ONE, SIMPLE PLOT, FIGURED IT OUT FROM THE GET GO, THEY HAND IT TO YOU ON A SLIVER PLATTER. WATCHING THE CHARACTERS PLAY OUT THEIR PARTS WAS WHAT MADE THE 2007 VERSION SO GREAT. NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM SERIOUS CREATIVE ABILITY IN COSTUMES AND GREAT FOR PRE CGI WORK. GUESS WHAT I'M GETTING AT IS 1ST ONE IS EASIER TO FOLLOW , EVEN THOUGH YO'VE SEEN 1ST ONE 10 TIMES, BACKGORUND ON 1ST DOESN'T HELP MUCH IN #2. LEFT ME GUESSING STILL ABOUT A FEW THINGS, NO SPOILERS. LOVE SCI-FI AND THIS IS IT AT ITS BEST. JUST WISH THEY'D WENT INTO MORE DETAIL, RATHER THAN ASKING US TO READ INTO ACTION , MOTIVES, AND WAS DIFFICULT. MAYBE THAT WAS THE POINT..

(SPOILERS) I don't really get the hype here. The movie dragged on during scenes that could have been shorter, because they weren't important scenes, and the plot could have been better. I didn't like how the main character basically didn't matter in the end. It felt like they gave up before filming the second 75% of the movie's plot. It seemed like a lot of the movie was unnecessary filler because the main character did not feel like the main character in the end. It felt like an introduction to a movie, a very long introduction, and that is the main problem I have with this movie. There were no problems with the filmography or music (which was impressive enough), but the ending was unsatisfying which pretty much ruined the rest of the movie. It's like those R.L. Stein books where a bunch of things happen and then the main character wakes up and it was all a dream. C'mon, I just spent 3 hours watching this movie! Finish the plot! The plot is just starting at the end! There are also some very integral parts of the plot that just felt lazy, like they couldn't make up an excuse for why they were taking out the older generation replicants.

Blade Runner 2019 is a top 5 favorite for me and the soundtrack is my outright favorite of any movie soundtrack. 2049 does a great job of taking from the original and expanding on it's scope. The music in 2049 is much darker and very powerful but it works. The movie isn't perfect. There are some things I could do without but nothing so bad that it ruins the whole. The original has that certain gritty, noirish feel that would be nearly impossible to match. We can only expect so much 35 years later. Really enjoyed Sylvia Hoeks's performance as "Luv".and, not surprisingly, Gosling does an excellent job carrying the film. Blade Runner 2049 had some monster shoes to fill and imo it does so while still being it's own film.
