I was actually working at a major Boston hospital the day this event happened. I guarantee that it was nothing like the way the movie portrayed this event. As a physician we see everything from a different perspective. I rented the movie and I could not get through the first 30 minutes, it was that bad. I made a second effort to watch the movie and realized that the movie couldn't even hold my attention span, so I just gave up. After dealing with the event personally in the hospital, I really didn't need to see the movie. I was only curious as to how the event was portrayed. From what I saw, nothing was accurate, and the acting that I saw was extremely poor and over the top. This was a sad and tragic day in our Country and we could not even portray the events accurately.

Marky Mark not Mark Wahlberg he was an awful rapper and almost as bad actor. How this idiot keeps getting major film roles is beyond me he cannot act. I've actually seen films that I would have liked if any other actor but him would have been in it. He ruins any film he's in. And what did this fool probably get 10 20 million dollars for exploiting an American Tragedy? Not to mention the studio behind this. It's not Patriots Day it's Pay Day.

Seemingly senseless acts of violence beg for explanation. Our hearts are torn apart by horror - nothing is scarier than random violence without cause. This film acquiesces to a black and white sense of morality. That is perfectly fine in Star Wars. In a depiction of a recent historically significant violent event, tempers and motivations must be explored. In examining a recent event of magnitude, care and balance are imperative. We've seen this done in the likes of United 93 and Zero Dark Thirty (and others). Patriots Day beckons a catharsis of catching the "bad guy" likened to euro action thrillers like Taken. Taken is great because it is fiction that feeds on tropes. It is exploitation for the purpose of entertainment based on fiction. Patriot's Day is exploitation for the purpose of entertainment based on a horrible and tragic bombing in Boston. This is exploitation of fear for monetary gain. It is filmmaking at its lowest: this is propaganda.
