I remember watching as a kid and being traumatized by the acid lake scene. Yep still v stressful to watch. Poor gran. Pierce is super handsome. Very 90's moment when they discuss her coffee techniques and storage. Overall solid enough. The dog survives so it's worth watching when hung over on Sunday.

Visually it is a stunner, and the actors (while acting in an action-disaster movie) do very well with what they've got. At times it is actually a very affecting tale with several touching moments, putting you right in the mix of the story of a small group of survivors of a terrible disaster. Well done.

"Dante's Peak" (1997) is WAY better than its twin rival "Volcano" (1997)
because "Dante's Peak" is much more realistic and scientifically accurate.
During the time I was in elementary school, my favorite scene was when the
characters flee from a flood of lava that literally vaporizes the wall. Now
that I am a young adult, I am now into the pyroclastic cloud scene.
