About this movie

Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver cant help falling in love with his beautiful neighbour Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac). After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defence for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman). But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk that they're coming straight for Irene and her son Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense. © Pinnacle Films 2012 (Original Title: Drive)

Overly derivative 70s plot; annoyingly smug characters; show off violence; but, like its ironic 80s score it chugs along entertainingly enough. Aww the violent crim is a family man though; how cute. Refn obviously needed the money.

This movie drags on for a bit, the trailer depicts as a fast paced drama but there are too many musical scores and little to no dialogue by the main actor, Ryan Gosling. If you want a fast paced drama then this is for you, if you want action then this may not be it.

Gosso' was surprisingly good, if you can over look the whole romanticised loner idea. What is it with America & this idea that tragedy = love? Anyway. it was good. 3 Stars.
