About this movie

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure EXODUS, the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharoah Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

Nothing like the book. (Contains spoilers) There are many Essentials to the exodus story and this movie wrote out most of it. The key missing bits include: - Moses murdering an Egyptian in defense of a Hebrew slave causing him to flee into hiding (movie version: Moses gets sent into exile for hiding his identity) - Moses was gone from Egypt for about 30 years before he returned making him about 80 years old when God appeared to him in a burning bush (movie version: Moses only stayed back for 9 years allowing Christian Bale to continue to play his role) - God, the all-knowing, all-powerful Ancient of Days (movie version: God is depicted as a child throwing a tantrum half the time - that's just not okay) - Moses' wife was from a completely different part of Africa and had dark skin (movie version: she has light skin and a few cool face tats) - THE STAFF. The staff meant everything in the true telling of this event. God used it in Moses' hand to perform many miracles including the parting of the red sea (movie version: it's not even there) - THE PARTING OF THE RED SEA (movie version: the sea didn't really part. Moses even drowns a bit at the end) - The law was written by God in His own handwriting (movie version: Moses is tapping away at a tablet while God brings him tea like an imaginary friend) I could go on and on but this did not do the Exodus story justice at all. It was merely entertaining and insulted God, Moses and the whole story.

When I first saw the trailer of this movie, the actors in play and the producers, I thought to myself this has got to be a great movie. I have never been this disappointed in them. This movie is a mockery to our faith. If you simply wish to entertain, don't twist Biblical texts. Will really appreciate if you could stick to the text or not get any of it at all.
