I saw this at the theaters when it came out and really did not like it even though I'm a big Martin Scorsese fan. But I did really dig Daniel Day Lewis performance and character he blew everyone out the water. A person should see this film just for his performance because the best parts of the film are when he's in it.

This movie kept my interest with its visuals but the story was gruesome and pretty hopeless. An overly drawn out revenge story with little if any redeeming value.

Gangs of New York was like that!!!!! Very good piece of history. Simular to what were going thru now with the 11 million illegal immigrants freeloadin here in this country. And I just found out I have Irish ancestors.
