This came out when I was a child, so the college experience went right over my head. As an adult, I have garnered a greater appreciation for this cinematic masterpiece. While some of the problems didn't ring a bell with me (aka the dorm and fraternity experiences), there were a lot of issues that hit home. It is astounding that 19 years later, these problems are still alive and well in the collegiate system. Especially violence, racism, and sniper shootings/gun-related tragedies. The great theme of awakening and changing as a young adult should be a theme we can all agree upon. As presented in the movie, these changes send us in all different directions, fueled on different ideologies. I have seen this masterpiece a few times, but only in parts. Having the time to sit down and analyze it for a class has given me a greater appreciation.

Higher Learning is an excellent movie, singleton strikes gold again. The end scene is extremely memorable; having American flag display as the words "unlearn" appear on screen, it is a great statement that shows the true colors of this land.
