A successful syndicated cartoonist (who acts out the adventures he later infuses into his cartoon-strip character, 'Bash Brannigan, Secret Agent') is dedicated to living the bachelor life, complete with a devoted English butler-valet-confidante...until he awakens one morning after a wild stag party, only to discover that he married the sexy, sensual Italian beauty who popped out of the cake and barely speaks English. What's more...she doesn't believe in divorce. Now, how does the ultimate bachelor get rid of her? With the perfect murder scheme, of course!

About as perfect a comedy as they come. Every actor is at their peak, the script is on point, and the direction is superb. Top marks all around. That being said, it is rather outdated socially. As it was released in 1965, may concepts may look alien, such as hand-drawn comics, dial telephones, and business suits as daily attire. Men are super dominant and women are objectified. Different times. Excessive drinking and drugging your date (though not for sex in this instance) should be frowned upon in any generation. If you can handle the generational differences (maybe treat them as historical elements), most everyone would enjoy this film.

Saw it on tcm the other day for the first time and I really enjoyed it, it was cool seeing new york city in 1965
