About this movie

The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to a cinematic event, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big. Lights up on Washington Heights. The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tightknit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life. “In the Heights” fuses Lin‐Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.

This is seriously one of the best movie musicals I have ever seen! I genuinely loved every single song. The cinematography is PHENOMENAL, and the performances hold nothing back! The dancers in particular - above and beyond in every frame. <3 Not to mention the themes of the film are exactly what we all need right now - community is everything, and we have to stand up for each other and celebrate what makes us ourselves. I have watched this film 3 times now in 24 hours, and will probably watch it again before my rental runs out. In The Heights does what every movie musical should be doing: making me genuinely believe that real life could be a musical, if we all just collectively agreed to make it so. <3

Emotional roller coaster. This might just be the greatest musical movie ever! The music is top notch, acting is phenomenal, and choreography blew me away! A true triple threat of a movie
