About this movie

A must-see for fans of The Godfather and The Sopranos, this festival winner puts a fresh spin to the crime/mafia genre. In New York City, a violent turf war shakes the pillars of the mafia regime. Aging mob enforcer, Michael, is ordered upstate to retrieve the Don's outcast son from his days of college partying and drug abuse. Barely surviving an attempted hit on the road home, they seek shelter at a rural farm, imposing on a scared single mother and her teenage son.

While struggling to coexist as unwelcome house guests, Michael is forced to deal with the Don's son's withdrawal in hiding. A man more comfortable solving problems with force, Michael must keep the peace in this temporary safe house while the family's ruthless enemies race to hunt them down.

A story about a family joined by both blood and affinity. The stereotype and the unusual crime mafia genre film. Various levels of darkness, memories and caring are aspects of this films "feel real" attempts at describing its story at large and its characters. Some banal material keeps me from giving this movie 5 stars. I could believe that, at least some, of this story could have happened in a time and place somewhere.
