About this movie

Courteney Cox makes her feature film directorial debut with this bold and wild ensemble comedy. After his wife leaves him, Ted Morgan (Seann Williams Scott) realizes he’s been treading water for most of his life and now has nothing left to live for. Summoning the courage for one last act, Ted decides to return to his hometown to take revenge on the people he feels are responsible for creating the shell of a person he has become. But when his plans start to unravel and backfire, it’s a raunchy and hilarious ride. The more Ted attempts to seek closure and withdraw from his crazy family, the stronger is the pull yanking him back into the chaos of their lives. This breakout Tribeca Film Festival favorite costars Olivia Thirlby (JUNO), Rob Riggle (21 JUMP STREET FRANCHISE), Kate Walsh (THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER), Garret Dillahunt (TV's JUSTIFIED), Missi Pyle (GONE GIRL), David Arquette (SCREAM FRANCHISE), and features original music by Snow Patrol.

This movie was a great surprise. Seann William Scott shows that he's not that one dimensional caricature of a person he plays in the American Pie series. His acting is more developed and believable. The movie deals with some dense issues, but does it in a tasteful and light way. I wouldn't say this movie is a comedy, more like a "dramedy" . Overall very enjoyable and well done.

The characters have depth that makes each of them interesting while adding to a single story. The movie blends comedy and drama very well. My one criticism would be that almost everything in the movie was a little too predictable, including the jokes which are meant to be "random." Even despite that, I still think this movie deserves the 5-star rating I'm giving it.
