About this movie

After nearly forty years of marriage, JOAN and JOE CASTLEMAN (Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce) are complements. Where Joe is casual, Joan is elegant. Where Joe is vain, Joan is self-effacing. And where Joe enjoys his very public role as Great American Novelist, Joan pours her considerable intellect, grace, charm, and diplomacy into the private role of Great Man's Wife. Joe is about to be awarded the Nobel Prize for his acclaimed and prolific body of work. Joe's literary star has blazed since he and Joan first met in the late 1950s. THE WIFE interweaves the story of the couple's youthful passion and ambition with a portrait of a marriage thirtyplus years later, with a lifetime’s shared compromises.

This movie is bad. It's really bad. I've never in my existence on planet earth, have seen a movie like this. Where the critics absolutely loved this movie as well as its gotten fantastic reviews and it is just not good at all! This movie is so bad I'm furious I wasted money on it! I've never in my life been so bored during a movie. Even when the twist of this movie is revealed (that's also revealed in the trailer) I was half asleep by that point. Maybe if you're 99 years old you might like this.

2 stars is a lot for this but I'm in generous mood today :)_______ This could've been such a great movie; could've been... _______So yes Glenn Close does what she can (why did she do this movie?) to support this insipid story of a washed out pseudo-writer in constant need for attention and young arms around his neck. _______Playing with stereotypes is ok when they're used in a good story, but not here. _______I either don't watch enough movies with J. Price or he always plays the role of the lousy slimy wanna-slap-him-in-the-face guy, but either way he could change his performance or rendition of a character with such attributes. ______In any case, I found the story weak and more than predictable,, most of the acting loose at best and the director's work more than questionable. Editing was like a punch in the face; something done by a first year film student..._______Oh yes, I forgot about the relentless swearing from the Nobel price of literature that just adds repulsion and aggravation to this poor attempt of a film.

Predicable...the acting was anything but good. I am surprised that Glenn Close actually allowed herself to be in this movie..poor choice...stupid story and ending....waste of money..This has got to be the worst movie that I have seen in a long time. The swearing was supposed to add to the script..it just made the actors more stupid looking
