Ajith’s 50th film Mankatha is a Tamil action thriller film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The movie is about a suspended cop (Ajith). He is in love with the local influential goon (Jayaprakash’s) daughter, Trisha. The protagonist is a man who dares to do anything for money. A suicide by a police officer investigating the betting mafia involved in Indian Premier League (IPL) hogs headlines. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Arjun) takes charge to end betting scandal in the sport. Meanwhile, Jayaprakash comes to know that a sum of Rs 500 crore betting money for the finals of the IPL is coming to Mumbai. He uses his nexus with underworld in Mumbai and tries to route it through his recreation centre. Vaibhav, Ashwin, Mahat and Premgi Amaren join hands to loot the booty. Ajith barges in to the team and the money gets stolen. All hell breaks loose from here.
