About this movie

Mary Queen of Scots explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart (Academy Award® nominee Saoirse Ronan). Queen of France at 16, widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry and instead returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. By birth, she also has a rival claim to the throne of Elizabeth I (Academy Award® nominee Margot Robbie), who rules as the Queen of England. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Rivals in power and in love, the two Queens make very different choices about marriage and children. Betrayal, rebellion and conspiracies within each court imperil both Queens–driving them apart, as each woman experiences the bitter cost of power.

Poorly cast female leads that both act like a couple of petulant little girls playing a game of princess, one of which (Margot Robbie) despite her role being that of the English Queen didn't manage to fully shake her Australian accent as part of her act ...........all this made it so boring that I switched it off after 15 minutes

Very bad casting. If you saw Vanessa Redgrave playing this same role, Care Blanchett playing this same secondary role, or actresses like Helen Mirren playing queen-roles, you will feel a bit of shame for Robbie and Ronan, who can't act for a living regarding this no shock that it bombed and was soon forgoten. There is no redeeming quality in this movie.

Omg this is such a sleepy movie to begin with. I fell asleep 35 minutes into it. So expensive rental. Should have put on sale for $1.98 instead.
