Truly top notch cast. Once in a while I always wonder if actors watch their own movies. I seriously doubt that these fine actors in this film would watch this movie of themselves without cringing. I think what happened is that the idea and the emotion was all there, but the editing and story boards were not. There are so many things that happen that make no sense to the story, it makes you kind of frustrated. I think this film just couldn't decide what it was really about. But I did feel things. In the one scene where Lange makes a sandwich for the little boy and the room is a mess and he feels so unsafe... that is how I felt all of the time growing up. My mother wasn't really there in the moment, and I was little and I needed her. Everyone else was busy because they were older. I guess life is that way... It comes without story boards and the editing can suck.
