In this harrowing true-life adventure, young American Billy Hayes (Brad Davis) is arrested in Turkey after he's caught smuggling hashish. Taken to a brutal Turkish jail where the prisoners must fend for themselves, he meets many other inmates, including an American (Randy Quaid), an Englishman (John Hurt), and a Scandinavian (Norbert Weisser). Determined to make an example of him, the court hands down a lengthy sentence, forcing Billy to escape via the "midnight express" in order to save his own life. Brilliant acting, compelling directing and an exhilarating score combine to create a riveting experience that captures audiences with the very first frame. Oliver Stone earned the Academy Award® for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on this film. Giorgio Moroder won the Oscar® for Best Original Score with title song by Chris Bennett. © 1978 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
