This is probably the second best mainstream adaptation of a Philip K Dick novel. The first being Blade Runner by Ridley Scott. I would argue that Scanner Darkly is the most accurate adaptation but we also have Total Recall, Adjustment Bureau, and TV adaptation of The Man in the High Castle. Two of the best in Hollywood, Spielberg and Cruise are on full display at the top of their craft here. It really doesn't get much better than this.

Steven Spielberg's Sci-Fi masterpiece, based on the short story by science fiction writer Philip K. Police Chief John Anderton, "Precrime" Supervisor, becomes a suspect, and ultimately a perpetrator of the "Precogs"visions, Anderton goes on the run, resorting to desperate measures, to disguise his identity, and maintain his perceived innocence...The technology in this future, can be quite alarming, compared to our current law enforcement practices...But this futuristic murder/ mystery thriller, does have it's basis on Spielberg's employment, of futurist's predictions of tech, that they envisioned would possibly be used, 50 years in the future...
