Eminently inventive auteur Michel Gondry turns to French novelist Boris Vian's cult novel to provide the foundation for this visionary, romantic love story starring Audrey Tautou (Amélie, Coco Before Chanel) and Romain Duris (The Beat My Heart Skipped).

This movie suffers because it isn't in English only in that Gondry films are so visual they need your eyes the whole time. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an example of it all working because it is in English. The film as a whole is still lovely and sad, and it might seem calloused to blame a movie for suffering due to a language barrier, but many things are lost because of it. Dubbing it in English would have slightly helped but really just done in English would have been best. Worth watching!
