About this movie

He was Britains most wanted man. He spent seven years in Americas toughest prison. Youll like him. Based on the hugely successful autobiography of the same name, Mr Nice tells the incredible story of the life of Howard Marks, "the worlds most sophisticated drug smuggler". At the height of his powers he had 43 aliases, eighty-nine phone lines and owned twenty five companies trading throughout the world, whilst simultaneously smuggling consignments of up to 30 tons of marijuana and keeping contacts with organisations as diverse as MI6, the CIA, the IRA and the Mafia. Set throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s and with an all star cast led by Rhys Ifans, Chloe Sevigny and David Thewlis, this is the ultimate tale of sex, drugs and rock and roll. Entertainmentone

I know it's always the way, but this film is only about 15% of the book - which was a little disappointing. Having loved the book, I was really excited to see this film and while it is enjoyable enough and does show most of the important bits, I would have liked to see more. The biggest things missed are that there is no mention of Asia whatsoever, and his time in prison and struggle against the American / Spanish law systems are severely brushed over. However, all in all a good film and worth a watch if you are interested in Howard Marks... or dope.

read this at least 5+ times...the film wasn't up to much Howard Marks goes into so much detail on his drug smuggling and it is near end of book before he even meets the IRA film makes it seem he started with going into business with said Ira member from the start when in actual fact it was a last resort after years of smuggling on his own he needed a new way to smuggling hence teaming up with that one IRA member needs must and all that.... well worth a read the man who had over 14 different identities
