If you like the book, you will hate this movie. It makes no attempt to be even sort of faithful. Every character is completely different from how they are in the book, for most characters both in ethnicity and personality. For instance, in the book Charles Wallace is quiet and reserved. In this train wreck of a film, he shouts at everybody. Even on it's own merit this movie fails. I knew the plot of the book pretty well, but I could not tell what was going on half the time in this movie. They spent too much money on special effects and celebrities and not enough on making the movie make sense.

Not really that great, boys and girls. Get ready to hear "I love you" a lot. Get ready for characters immersed in scenes of undulating colors and mystical music for far too long. Get ready for characters that should have been cool, but are actually corny. Get ready for the irony that, in order to follow the story line you should have read the book, but if you did read the book, you'll be disappointed in the storyline. Get ready for bleh acting and dialogue. Or, skip getting ready and just watch paint dry. Cheaper, and more entertaining.

Of course, movies fall short of the books 100% of the time, but this doesn't even come close to doing the book any justice what so ever. I was so excited to see this movie and so disapointed during the whole show. The story line started and ended relatively close, but the entire "meat and potatoes" of the story were completely missed. Who cares about visuals if you don't even tell a story well. Totally not impressed.
