Classic Love the book, love the movie, love the costumes, acting, scenery, absolutely everything. Every little detail in this movie makes it enjoyable to watch many times around. Sometimes a bit cheesy or overdone but it's a romance and it's Jane Austen... what's not to love?
Pride and Prejudice As Kyra Knightly rocks the screen with her believable Elizabeth Bennet, the cast is wonderful, the cinematography excellent and the music sublime. My favorite of all the Austen Films, and I've seen many!
It is a fair movie. I think it is a okay film based off of my classic romantic novels. I only wished it were put together better. It lacked what I thought important details and jumped time way to much. The acting was great and the actors that was chosen for the characters were great. I just personally found it lacking and wanted more.
Love it This movie has helped me through my times of sickness and I'm grateful to be able to watch such a true love story. Where it's not ruined by sex and cussing and naked scenes it's a true story of 18th century life and I love love love it
Pride and Prejudice I shall be cautious and not spoil this lovely film. I must say I did read the book first. The most enjoyable deviation from the book was the depiction of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett's relationship in the film. Keira disappeared entirely into character, a mighty talent we've been quite spoiled to expect. My only criticism would be Donald's wavering attempt at an English accent. Magnificent!
Critics beware... Ms. Knightley's rendition of Ms. Austen's Elizabeth Bennett is near flawless when one considers the century or two between the writing of the book and the creation of the film. I am absolutely delighted to call this movie one in my collection, and to the male nay-sayers of the critic group, pish and tosh to you, boys. You're lack of imagination here is sad and quite typical of a literary snob. Well, I have a hint for you. You are not critiquing literature. You are a critic of cinema. Great performances, great historical fact placement, and beautiful score and filmography makes for a wonderful ride into the past of a genteel love and her arguments against her own judgment. Beauty to my rom-com loathing soul.
I think my 3 stars come from having watched a similar story who has set the standards so much higher! (North & South) were Richard Armitage (Mr.Thornton) plays a very similar role as Mr. Darcy. He makes the guy on Pride & Prejudice look like an amateur and exaggerates our ability to see Mr. Darcy's flaws as an actor; his acting is forced, the arrogance of his character seems so "prepared" that I found him extremely annoying. It was like watching poor theater. I can see the actor and not the character. The chemistry and playfulness with cara knightley is more annoying than truthful. She never hates him (but plays to hate him) because they do a very bad job as actors manipulating those subtle emotions. Watch "North & South" and you will understand how a couple can portray hate, prejudice and understanding in a powerful and complex way.
A must have! I love this movie!! I hate romance but this is so awesome. No nasty sex scenes or language just a pure love story. The script is almost exactly like the book. I love the way the scenes fuse together not only to prevent a lengthy movie but also make it more comical!
My favorite film of all time I have seen this film easily over a hundred times, and I never tire of it! I know all the lines, what's happening next, yet I still sit here and smile like an idiot when something cute happens :) My only complaint is that I can't buy this to download, I can only rent it! I seriously would watch this every night of I could buy it.
Best Movie Ever This movie is brilliantly and perfectly executed. It is beautiful. The acting is excellent. It is one of the few movies I can watch over and over again and see something different each time.
One of My Favorite Movies This is a great version of this movie. Granted it does take some artistic license with the book, but it does cover the main aspects of the book well in a 2 hour time frame. The actors are engaging, the script is well written and over all it's a wonderful movie experience!
Hopeless Romantic I have not read the book but I do like this movie. I don't usually watch movies that have to do with these type of eras but since I watched Jane Eyre and I liked it, I thought why not this one too.
Yes! My favorite movie! McFadyen encompasses the essence if Mr Darcy perfectly! he it's dark and mysterious and all kinds of stoic.the rest of the cast is vibrant and so full off life. Perfectly executed!!
