Just awful It seems like they read the first half of the book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, then decided to sparknotes the rest. The last half of the movie is like a completely different movie. It's almost like the producers said, "Ok so we need a certain percentage from the book to use the basic plotlines, character names, and the title. We got that and now we can do our own thing. As long as Darcy and Elizabeth get married at the end, people won't notice or care." Well I noticed and care. This movie was crap.
Good evening watch, if you are into a bit of fun in your Georgian Romance. I felt it was as good proper an adaption of the novel as one could hope for. Of course partly I was hoping for maybe a different look of things than the novel edit showed. Though its a 'comedy' its very much a dark dramady I'd say more so. As there were a few laughing outloud moments, most of of the humour comes with how it derails from the original work much like the novel. and a lot of the interior comedic bits are obviously missed if you are not familar with the Austen's novel.
New Replacement I know that kung fu panda 3 was disqualified from number one to number two and taken away from the last weekend's box office! And pride and prejudice and zombies is the new number one movie and destroyed kung fu panda 3, hail caesar and the choice for real!!!!
Fun movie What a brilliant concept! Combine a must read boring high-school book with Zombies. Granted the screenwriter varied from the book, but he managed to deliver the core of the social divide that Ms Austen was trying to get across. The actors were superb, and I actually had empathy for them. Who didn't she'd a tear when our heroine said yes to the proposal? It's a fun movie, and who knows, maybe you will actually absorb a bit of the classic book at the same time.
Unrecognizable The book is a delightful comedy, the movie in not. As an adaptation it is a disappointment. I'm not a huge fan of zombie films but trying to appreciate the movie in that light still fails because the plot hints at more with Wickham than it can deliver. Then there's the matter of any retelling of Pride and Prejudice should be a romance and this was not romantic. It was not what I expected and I tried to enjoy it but it failed in comedy and romance.
I loved the movie's plot! Unfortunately, I was criticizing about 90% of the fight scenes. If they do a sequel, they'll need to get a different choreographer for them. The only fight scene that was done decently well was the one between Darcy and Zombie dude (can't remember his name right now. I think it starts with a W...) But other than that, it was a pretty good movie. It had me absorbed for the entirety of it!
Lily James fabulous performance and the cinematography were in some instances dazzling. However, dialogue was downright terrible and just the overall tone of the story seemed to miss the mark. It should have been tarentino meets luhrman but was essentially just an inconsistent mess.
First off, not sure why this movie is sorted under "comedy." This movie is a fun adventure in 19th century England overrun by zombies with some humorous moments. If you're going to be overly critical of this film it's not for you. "Pride+Prejudice+Zombies" is fun! I went into the theater with no idea what to expect and left wanting to go see it again. This is definitely going into my collection and will be watched time and time again.
"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" - Movie Review I think this movie is kinda under rated to say the least. It had compelling characters and an okay script with decent dialogue. The story behind this movie was interesting and exciting. My only problem with the movie is that there is a lack of zombies! Seriously, there are not that many zombies here! But the story away from the zombie parts is still really compelling. (B-)
Not what I expected Romance, heart ache, family, and of course zombies!! This movie really wasn't what I was expecting they took one of my favorite movies of all time and have it a twist 5 stars from me IDC what others say about it.
This is now one of my favorite "Zombie" movies, right up there with Sean of the Dead and Zombieland. If you've read Pride & Prejudice, the movie surprisingly follows the book fairly well with the same names, similar plot lines and even dialog. But the addition of a zombie apocalypse creates a quirky, humorous and action oriented subplot (or something to that effect) that we really enjoyed.
Awesome!!! You ppl don't know a good movie when you see one! This movie was so good! I loved every part! However, it isn't a comedy but it does have its quirky moments that make you smile. It's a dark gothic style film in the style of Crimson Peak, which I absolutely love! If your the type that prefers crude sexual refferences and cheesy lines (movie's with Ben Stiller) this movie is not for you! For the rest of us, it's a must watch!
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!! Okay I love it when I find romance movies And action movies mixed together and I love it when its set back then but when u add ZOMBIES INTO THE MIX omg then I am sold to the moon and back. I watched the original pride and prejudice and it was amazing a movie i think all girls love but then there are those girls who love the gore and zombies and explosives and all that guy stuff so really when they made this movie they were answering those girls prayers and I'm one of those girls so really THANK U SSOO MUCH!
Movie Oh, Boo Hoo its not like the book "sob sob" get over it, of course its not like the book or whatever. Its a move... Its different, thats what, and i dont need to watch the same things over and over,,, Try watching something new, it may not be good or bad ,. But haters hate, no mater whats put before them.. i thought it was good.
I decided to watch this movie because I was bored and half expected it to be dull and classic low budget nonsense.... But I was thoroughly enthralled and entertained. Mostly good acting, an awesome twist on a great classic, very well done, FANTASTIC FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY, and a well portrayed romance between Liz and Darcy. A bit dorky, but I'm a dork.
Its has And Zombies for a reason Did people really expect a complete remake but with a few zombie scenes here and there? No, its effects are good and the rest is pretty spot on. Recommend watching to people who like romances and cant handle horror films (not that scary).
Trashing a classic That is disturbing taking a classic love story. And making it demented definitely. One movie I will not go see anytime soon. Good thing the author isn't alive to see Hollywood trash another. Piece of timeless literature.
no clue why this got such bad reviews. Its a GOOD (not the best) zombie movie with the backdrop of historical romance. Had good action, strong female leads. I liked how they still lived life even with the threat (like TWD) you move on it becomes just a regular part of life. I was a good movie.
Perfect! I had been trying to get my husband to sit through the last remake of Pride and Prejudice, the one with Keira Knightley, but never could. He sat through this one and watched it about 3x. The movie was funny and had just enough gore to keep him happy. Great movie and would definitely watch it again.
b a r f b a g You must allow me to tell you how ardently I abhor and loathe this movie. I actually lost 32 IQ in the first 30 minutes. Might as well make a movie about Abraham Lincoln vs vampires... oh wait...
Love the period set and clothing. The acting was A list and the story was amazing. It wasn't just an average zombie movie that gets by on action and violence. It actually had depth of characters, evolving storyline, and an unpredictable script. Highly recommended.
Nice twist Couldn't care less about the original Pride and Prejudice, but put in some zombies and some butt kicking, wise cracking sisters and you got my attention. Really enjoyed it; nice mix of action and comedy.
