About this movie

The story of Nim, the chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a landmark experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Following Nim's extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, Project Nim is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human. What we learn about his true nature -and indeed our own - is comic, revealing and profoundly unsettling. 2011 Project Nim Ltd / UK Film Council, All Rights Reserved.

This study has made me realise just how selfish the human race are.. How dare we take this being out of his natural environment for our own benefits on all accounts. You don't have to be a scientist or a professor to know that you can communicate with another being. It's been done for centuries. This poor soul was removed by these selfish people with no fore thought or consideration given to how they would integrate him back into his colony. A couple of hours is not nearly enough - surely it would take just as long to rehabilitate him back into his society. Nim was exploited and treated less than a human and these people should be ashamed of themselves. Otherwise, a real eye opener..
