After six years in jail, and just one week before Christmas, Rudy (Affleck) and his cellmate, Nick, are set to be paroled. But when Nick's killed in a prison riot, Rudy assumes his identity and looks up Ashley (Theron), a mysterious woman Nick wrote to, but never met. The lie turns deadly when Rudy becomes entangled in a daring casino robbery led by Ashley's brother (Sinise).
