About this movie

Shadows of Freedom recounts the story of the Jewish/Algerian & French resistance of 1942 which helped change the course of WWII, yet remains largely forgotten. These 388 resistors, working alongside Allied forces, were instrumental in saving the lives of over 500,000 Jews in North Africa, targeted by Hitler's Final Solution. This was all part of "Operation Torch", the first successful strike against the Nazis by the Allies, and also the longest invasion in the history of conflict; surprisingly also largely forgotten.

“Shadows of Freedom” is an engaging one-hour documentary for those interested in history about World War II, the Holocaust and the involvement of Jewish communities in North Africa. The astounding bravery of the small group of Algerian Jewish men is methodically revealed after an extensive documentary background of the European Nazi invasion and what led to Operation Torch planned by PM Churchill and President Roosevelt. A must see documentary!
