"The name is Bond…James Bond." Such a simple line, but perhaps the most famous introduction to the most famous action hero in all of cinematic history. Relive all of the action, villains, strong and sexy women, crazy henchmen and shaken not stirred martinis with the complete Bond collection.
It's been a long time since I enjoyed a Bond movie so much.
'Quantum of Solace,' was a dour, dire letdown. This picture's a substantial bounce back, and easily the best Craig Bond picture. Emotional depth and all.
Sam Mendes' 'Skyfall': sleek, slithery, sensual
The cool accomplishment of Skyfall, 23rd in the Broccoli franchise, is that it seems a necessary, rather than mandatory, addition to the year's popular culture.
Among the most ambitious imaginings of Bond to date: dark, supple, and punctuated with moments of unanticipated visual brilliance.
Mendes' approach to action is classical and elegant - no manic editing and blurry unintelligible images here - but what makes the movie special is the attention he pays his actors.
It's been a long time since I enjoyed a Bond movie so much.
Extremely satisfying entry in the James Bond film series, perhaps the best 007 film starring Daniel Craig, perhaps the best 007 film to date. Celebrating fifty years of James Bond, with 'Doctor No' having been released in 1962, 'Skyfall' explores a number of themes which help to both root the James Bond Series in the real world and also to satisfy fans of the series who may appreciate its more humorous turns with Roger Moore or with Sean Connery. There were two simple things that 'Skyfall' achieved that I loved the most, two things I'd never thought I'd see from a Bond film; one, the film is shot beautifully. The scenes with 007 stalking a sniper in a colorfully lit Singapore or set in the remote highlands of Bond's birthplace in Scotland give the world a sense of depth and of openness that had been all too absent in previous 007 films. Two, we meet a much more vulnerable and human James Bond, one who is wounded by gunfire (twice) in this film for the first time since 'Thunderball' and one who is slowly beginning to succumb to the weaknesses of old age. The film even explores Bond's childhood in visiting his birthplace in Scotland and exploring the deaths of his parents.
Barely passable for me "Bond girls" average around 48 years of age when one counts Dame Judi Dench. She is a serious actress, but this is not Oedipus Rex. The other two female leads, Marlohe in particular, make neither memorable characters nor, oddly enough, eye candy. The final smash-em-up is a low-stakes local affair, however noisy. Plot holes usually would not matter in a Bond film, but this one seems to pass itself as a part-time psychodrama, so incoherence rankles. Some decently choreographed fighting early on. Locations are ho-hum. Craig is a charmless Bond. Bardem is a good villain, but that is not enough.
Jumped the Shark What are people thinking? The first two films were so much better than this dud. Predictable, cliche, cheesy ( the Komodo Dragon sequence, cmon). It was almost a direct rip-off of the Dark Knight and the sheer amount of awful stupidity is too much to explain here. What a let down!
Ruined the Bond Theory What kind of an idiot goes around using his real name when he's a secret agent? Bond should have been a code name that tied all the Bond movies together into one continuous, chronological franchise. But Skyfall says no, so I guess whatever. Good action.
In Casino Royale, Bond just gained his double-0 status. Now, he's already over-the-hill? Bond can't pass his physicals, yet he easily defeats several enemies in the blink of an eye right after watching the female lead die? Showdown with Silva sucked. Silva was made out to be some total scary bad ass but he never did anything to warrant that. Overrated movie by sheep. Just kidding, I enjoyed it because I'm Senor Estupido.
Remarkably appalling Skyfall is truly an awful film, and a tremendously disappointing deviation from what the new James Bond movies were shaping up to be. I'm not suggesting that the first two films in this new generation demonstrate artistic genius, of course, but they are certainly several orders of magnitude better in every conceivable way than this latest atrocity. The theme of old (the "old way" as well as the physically old characters) beleaguered by new feels contrived and awkwardly permeates the entire film.
Skyfall fell... below expectations Just plain awful. Seems like the dialogue was lines from every Bond movie written on pieces of paper and randomly pulled from a hat. Did anyone even bother to wake Daniel Craig up to act in the film? I would like to know what cartoon did Javier Bardem get inspiration from for his role.
Worst Bond movie ever In this flick, Bond acts like a sociopath, standing on the sidelines while characters are getting killed. Not a hero. Plus a villain with mommy issues? Serously? Previous two Bond movies with this actor were much better.
Digital only works if it is allowed to! Own the new Bond? To bad I can only rent it... stupid MPAA or the likes probably will only let Google rent it for a set period of time so they can force people to buy hard copies.
Good visuals, weak story The plot seems to be filled with episodes which are clearly supposed to bring depth to the story and yet are underdeveloped and lead nowhere. Rich visuals compensate somewhat, but not completely. Furthermore, for anyone in the programming profession, there is enough computing nonsense to seal a rather unfavorable impression.
Pathetic What a bunch of old cobblers. If the Queen had been this lack luster on her 50th jubilee, she would have been shown the inside of the Tower long before her 60th. Obviously the Bond franchise has fallen into the hands of pinko pillow biters. The passing Eons have definitely wilted the Broccoli.
This starts off ok but it turns quickly into a yawn fest. It's a shame they couldn't keep up the momentum of the other Daniel Craig films they were on a roll. But it's gone back to the usual nonsense of old bond films. I was hoping they had took it in the right direction. But it's took a u turn
Thoroughly entertaining, yet somewhat forgettable. Daniel Craig continues to personify all that is James Bond, without feeling like a cartoon superhero. As always, the action is gripping and intense. The villain is quite disturbing, yet worth a modicum of sympathy. Even so, I still find it difficult to remember much of the story after a few weeks.
Amazing! Altulough craig isnt the best bond (in my opinion) this is the best bond film due its complex character portrayals (notably javier bardem's villain) rather than stereotypical russian/communist antagonists. Showing how the job effects Bond has never been seen before (he always seems to escape unscathed with some little jest being said before such an action), so I look forward to Bond 23!
Top 3 Bond film all time From the action to the characters, Skyfall delivers on all cylinders. The more literal viewers may get let down by typical action movie tropes. Overall , however, there is more hearty in this Bond than most.
Excellent!!! Craig makes a very good bond. For those that like the old bonds, i think you will like this one. You can start to see it coming full circle now in this one. The introduction of Q and the slight hint of his gadgets to come. The new M of which is faithful to the old bonds. I hated to see Judy go but it had to happen eventually. Craig is slated to be in the next two to three bond film's so i think they will start to resemble the older bonds as time develops.
Die Bond Die First I would like to say I was not a fan of the first two Bond movies. To put them in order I would actually say for this Bond it's Been 3 2 1. I found that this story really goes back to the Bond roots. With all the classic concepts and props to go with it. The movie has intense action and a fast pace with easy to follow story. Unlike Casino Royal, where you really feel the 2 1/2 hours, this movie flys by. When it's over you get that classic Bond feeling of closure but know that more is on the way.
Okay but lame... I can't say I liked the movie nor can I say I hated it... it's weird, it's mainly just showing what would have happened if James Bond was injured and how he would do things differently afterward...
Best Bond in quite a while The series has gotten lackluster the last few installments. I am a fan of Daniel Craig but he had yet to bring me what I was looking for in a bond. This movie changed it entirely. I overall enjoyed this film. I was expecting a disappointment and I was amazing this was a epic film in my opinion. The characters are deep and the acting is excellent in my opinion. Probably my favorite film of 2012 and perhaps the decade so far. I recommend
Excellent 007!! If you are not a James Bond fan you will be after this. I've never seen a Bond movie quite as good as this. I've never seen a Bond quite like this. Bond shows emotions in this movie and it's touching. The action starts at the beginning and doesn't stop. You'll find urself begging for more. I know I did. My mouth was still open at the end.
Not that great Gadgets: non-existent. Women: few and far in between. Stunts: average. Plot: unbelievable (even for a bond movie). Can't see the fuss about buying when the movie is only worthy of a rental charge.
Worth watching, but... This is a good movie but for me it isn't Bond. Connery and Moore are the two best Bonds, in that order. The old Bond movies had a touch of humor and showed refinement. Like when Connery was able to taste some wine and guess the year it was bottled. It's those little things that make it a 007 movie. Where's the cocky confidence? This Bond never smiles. If this wasn't a Bond film I'd give it a 4. It's a good movie but it lacks the details that make a James Bond film.
One of if not the best James Bond movies ever made Oh my god. That's all I can really say after that experience of a movie. Everything about it was out of of the park phenomenal. It had all the right vibes of a Bond movie! One of the best Bond movies I've ever seen! not only would I recommend you see this movie I recommend you go out and immediately buy it because you need to give MGM more money to make more bond!
Good but... The movie is really good but it has many moments that strike me as NOT a Bond movie. Also I think there is quite a bit analogy in the plot to The Dark Knight in the bad guy department. Deformed, very detailed master plan, disguise, trap... Many things.

Really liked the film, but... Really liked the movie, not the best bond, certainly worth watching. My problem is not with the film however. The front page of Google play says "own" the newest bond film. I see no buy option. Come on, Google, either let us buy it, or quit falsely advertising...
Worst of the Craig films, still love him as Bond. Great opening then devolves from there. Horrible villian, Q is uncharacteristically a moron, odd, prolonged focus on Bond's origins to atypical ending.
Overrated It's a great Bond movie but typical and all of same. The villain was intelligent, methodical and ruthless. And yet when he captured the very man who could've stopped him, he untied him and gave him a loaded gun. D'oh!
Simply one of the best From the bond catalog i would say this will rank #3 behind Dr No and Goldfinger, but above Casino Royale... Sam Mendes (director) and Roger Deakins (cinematography) are a perfect duo infusing their own touch but keeping what all bond fans love from our suave spy. Gorgeous to look, action to boot, and one of the most devilishly sweet evils (bardem)... Daniel Craig surely is staking his claim why he is #2 bond of all time (sorry, but connery still the one)
Give it back to the British When the bond Franchise gave it to the yanks...without fail millions of gunfire, bombs nd explosives, rediculous stunts, and not much sensible dialogue, plus too much political correctness.not much sence of humour.... Only the british did this well. I'm sick to death of bloody gunfire every to seconds. BORING
Great show, poor advertising It says "own the new bond, James bond." You can onoy rent it. Will you please straighten this out google? I do like this movie a lot though. 2 stars because the add is misleading.

After George Lazenby portrayed James Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Sean Connery returned to the tux, gimmicks, and catchphrases of Secret Agent 007 in his penultimate Bond outing, Diamonds Are Forever. Fragments of Ian Fleming's original 1954 novel remain, including the characters of the alluring Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) and fey hitmen Wint (Bruce Glover) and Mr. Kidd (Putter Smith). The remainder of Richard Maibaum and Tom Mankiewicz's script diverges dramatically from the novel, involving Bond in a scheme by the insidious Ernst Blofeld (Charles Gray) to force the world powers to disarm so that he can take over the globe. Folksinger Jimmy Dean shows up briefly as a Howard Hughes-like reclusive billionaire, while Lana Wood (Natalie's sister) participates in one of the film's edgiest cliffhangers.
