About this movie

Acclaimed Artistic Director and Choreographer Stephen Page brings Bangarra Dance Theatre's outstanding dance work SPEAR to the screen. Striking and original, Page weaves story through dance to deliver an extraordinary cinematic experience in his feature film debut. 'Spear', is Bangarra Dance Company's first feature length film in dance. Choreographed and Directed by Stephen Page with the Bangarra Dance Co dancers, 'Spear' is a comment upon issues faced by contemporary Indigenous Australian men who question what it means to be an Aboriginal man in today's society. The film has an effective use of minimal vocal script supported by descriptive dance sequences. 'Spear' is a brilliant piece of cinematography supported by and original sound score and bolstered by breathtaking and sublimely executed contemporary dance sequences. Plus, 'Spear' has a message to bear, "Mother Earth sees all".
