A promising premise at the start, but not enough gravitas (compared to, for example, Maguire's 2nd outing), despite the too many attempts at the sincere and - at times almost excruciatingly - earnest heart to hearts. It was also clever, but again, not clever enough considering all the plot gimmicks involved. All this combined, particularly the borderline tiresome h-t-h's - make for quite a 'slogging' pace. Lose 30 mins & they'd have been onto a winner. Entertaining, if a little disappointing.

As a Spiderman film, it was great, it had some epic moments and real nostalgia for us long time fans that at the time on first viewing kept us enthralled. However, upon rewatching, there were many plot holes and things that happened that just seemed too coincidental. Overall, an amazing feat to pull off and to show this story on screen, all with the og actors, but ultimately, it could've, should've, been greater.

I saw this twice in the cinema and my god it does not disappoint at all, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and the whole screen went nuts for certain moments in both screenings especially the scenes when Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire come through the portals. This film is literally the definition of giving the fans what they want and it works in every single way from all of the OG villains coming back and so many amazing callbacks. This movie is a solid 10 out of 10 all the way...
